Interviewing for a
Babysitting Job
Before taking a
babysitting job, always interview the family first. A
Family Interview Form lists questions you
should ask. While you are interviewing the family to see if
you want to babysit for them, they are also interviewing you.
This way, everyone can decide if you and the job are the right
match.
Relax and be
friendly. A résumé can be a helpful way to define your
qualifications and experience. (Download an MS Word file with a résumé
template.) Tell the parents or guardians about yourself:
how old you are, where you go to school, why you want the job,
and what you like best about taking care of children. Then you
can start asking questions about the family.
The interview is
your chance to make sure the job is right for you. You’ll also
find out everything you need to know to be a GREAT babysitter
for the family -- the kind of babysitter the children love to
be with and who is asked back again and again!
