BECOME A VOLUNTEER
Voluntary Service is a key
fundamental principal and a valuable part of the American Red Cross mission.
The American Red Cross of Mower County has over 350 dedicated men and women who
volunteer their time and energy to help us serve our community.
We would love to have you
join our team of committed volunteers. If you are interested in becoming a
volunteer for the American Red Cross of Mower County do a quick self-assessment
and follow the easy steps below.
How do you know if you are ready to volunteer?
We suggest that you do a
self-assessment. This will help you decide if the American Red Cross is a good
fit for you. We believe that knowledge of our services enhances one’s
dedication and commitment to the organization.
After completing the
self-assessment below, follow these next steps to become a volunteer:
Step 1. We
offer an online orientation to the American Red Cross, which includes an
overview of our history, mission, values, key services, organization structure
& our commitments and other valuable information to give you background
knowledge & understanding of the organization. You can access this by going
to
http://www.redcross.org/general/0.1082.0_153_.00.html#orientation
online, or you may stop in the chapter office and use one of our stations to
complete this task or lastly we would be happy to supply you with a hard copy.
Step 2.
Complete the Mower County Chapter of the American Red Cross application and
required forms online. This can be done by going to _______??_________. You may
also request an application by contacting
mowerarc@charter.net,calling
507.437.4589 or stop by the office at 305
4th Ave N.W. Austin, MN.
Step 3. After
receiving your application, you may be contacted to come and visit with us, so
we may better serve your interests and needs.
Step 4. Get
ready to volunteer!
This self-assessment is for
your planning purposes & decision making alone. Discuss your decision with
the important people in your life.
1. The Mower County Chapter
of the American Red Cross is seeking volunteers who are responsible &
reliable. We rely on volunteers to meet the needs of our clients and customers as
well as to fill gaps for the organization. We count on volunteers to fulfill
their promises and complete their job assignments. Without reliable volunteers,
disaster victims would not receive immediate assistance, less blood would be
collected & lifesaving classes would be cancelled.
2. Many Red Cross
opportunities require that you take classes before beginning volunteering. This
training often requires travel to different areas.
3. Volunteering for the Mower
County Chapter of the American Red Cross involves working with people of
different ages, cultural, racial, ethnic, religious and educational
backgrounds. One of the Fundamental Principals of the American Red Cross/Red
Cross Society is neutrality.
Thank you for taking the time
to complete this assessment. Now you have a better understanding of the
American Red Cross and are ready to VOLUNTEER!
