AUTOMATED  EXTERNAL  DEFIBRILLATORS

Each year nearly 250,000 Americans succumb to Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) - an average of almost 700 deaths each day.  The American Red Cross believes this statistic should and can be lowered by increased availability of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDS).

According to a recent study, a heart attack or SCA occurs mostly on Monday followed closely by Friday, the most stressful days of the workweek. SCA can strike anywhere, claiming victims right in the middle of their daily routine, at their desks, behind a store counter, while meeting with associates, or attending to customers. Since we spend most of our waking hours at work or school, it makes good business sense to protect our workplaces and schools against unnecessary death from SCA.

It would be our pleasure to meet with you and discuss an AED program that will meet your organization's needs. If you should have any questions or would like to schedule a meeting, please call us at (507) 437-4589 or email us at mowerarc@charter.net.

Who should learn AED and have an AED on site?

  • Business & industry first responders

  • Flight crews

  • Ship crews

  • MD’s and Nurses

  • Dentists and Oral Surgeons

  • Exercise facilities and employees

  • Sports coaches and trainers

  • Senior citizen center employees

  • Stadium and Civic Center workers

  • All other individuals in areas where a cardiac arrest may occur

Timing is critical for survival, and only a defibrillator can deliver the electric shock to a heart and restore it to its normal rhythm that is interrupted when SCA strikes. Give your employees, coworkers and customers or students a fighting chance, have a defibrillator on site. Let the American Red Cross help you start an AED program at your organization.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ON THE FUTURE OF CPR TRAINING!

At the Red Cross, the future is here and now, with the addition of AED training.

Before the availability of Automated External Defibrillators (AED), the use of defibrillation for people in cardiac arrest was restricted to Life Support Providers, who had the knowledge and training to interpret the electrical rhythm of the victim’s heart, and to manually provide defibrillation after determining it was necessary.

Many life-threatening cardiac emergencies require the need of an AED and people properly trained in its usage. This training is now available to you. The American Red Cross has introduced a very important supplement to our CPR program. CPR students, or those who have already had CPR training, can now learn to use this advanced life-saving knowledge by taking an Adult CPR/AED class, or a CPR for the Professional Rescuer with AED class. Without CPR and electric shock treatment from an Automated External Defibrillator within the first four minutes after collapse, nine out of 10 sudden cardiac arrest victims do not survive.

Upon successful completion of either of these new courses, you will have mastered the necessary skills for the administration of CPR and Automated External Defibrillation (AED). Please check our current class schedule for the times and dates of these classes, and give serious thought to registering to learn this new component in helping to save a life.
