As
part of the 1905 Congressional Charter, the American Red Cross was
designated as the official communication agency for the Department
of Defense. Armed Forces Emergency Services at the
Chapter are available for military members and their families.
We're available for their emergency needs - around the clock and
around the world.
When disaster
strikes in the United States, the American Red Cross will try to
determine the welfare status of family members who have lost
communication with each other. Families can call us at (507)
437-4589 to initiate a Disaster Welfare Inquiry. For more
information, check out our
Military
Assistance
page.
When normal
communications in other nations are disrupted by war, conflicts
and other disasters, the American Red Cross relies on the network
of the more than 170 National Red Cross/Red Crescent Societies and
the rest of the International Red Cross movement to bridge that
gap. Whether it's exchanging Red Cross Family or POW
Messages, tracing a missing loved one or making an International
Disaster Welfare Inquiry, our Chapter is here to help.
